Large Shade Trees; Pine, Oak, And Maple For Shade Tree Planting And Growing

The largest living creatures that man encounters are Shade Trees that are handily defined as trees that produce shade protection from the sunlight. Mankind loves and respects shade trees with their cooling benefits and the many available wood products, that improve the recreational environment and offer food and shelter for wildlife, birds, insects, and other creatures. Trees are planted and grown for many purposes; for their sculptured beauty, beautiful seasonal color, and flowers. Flowering trees are usually not planted to grow as shade trees, but mainly for their beautiful flowers, and their growth is not fast enough to produce a tree large enough to shade a house very well. Many specific products of shade trees are fruit, berry, nut, wood pulp, sugar, turpentine, bark, mulch, timber, and sawdust. Fast growing shade trees in landscapes tend to suppress weeds by shading the ground with minimum light. Shade trees purify our atmosphere by absorbing automobile emissions of carbon dioxide and replacing oxygen as fresh air to breath.

Large shade trees protect the soil from erosion and cool the earth beneath the trees with shade. The height of some longer shade trees can grow to 100 ft in the Landscape, and often the roots grow out from the base of the tree, at least as far out as the height. Some botanists report that the greatest enemy of the forests of shade trees is agriculture, because civilization has cut down the trees in order to Plant row crops and to build homes. Many large virgin forests of Longleaf Pine Trees have vanished, and are replaced for Planting and growing agricultural crops. The great forests of large, black Walnut Trees are now gone and replaced with condominiums, and large grassy lawns growing there instead. Early American botanists and explorers wrote letters about walking all day "underneath the cooling avenues of large Live Oaks and their graceful boughs that touched the earth." People are encouraged today to save the environment and to Plant and grow large trees in their Landscape. Eight to ten foot shade trees are best to provide fast Growing Trees for quick shade.

Shade Trees make an important and powerful statement in the landscape composition. Group plantings of shade trees can filter out automobile noise and noxious exhaust fumes. Single specimen tree plantings can make dramatic horizontal or vertical blockage for privacy.

Wanee Festival - Live Oak, FL 04.13.07

$12.95

Gov't MuleWanee Festival04.13.07Live Oak, FLAs dependable as the rising of the sun, the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida brings forth a Mule rested from winter slumbers. Warming in the spring sun, the Mule shook its coat free of the settled glistening dew in a colorful kaleidoscopic cascade that began with a constructive Hammer and Nails that built the framework for a rousing return to the road. Thorazine Shuffle shuffled into the second song slot and the Mule style cover of Bob Marley's Lively Up Yourself found itself batting cleanup behind Patchwork Quilt. The bases having been cleared, A Million Miles From Yesterday, the title track of The Million Miles Tour, laid down a smooth and sultry groove befitting the setting of live oaks and lively crowd. Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers stylishly made his presence known during That's What Love Will Make You Do. Endless Parade, in all of it's soaring glory, wound it's way into If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Want To Be Right; a beautiful cover penned by and dedicated to the recently passed Luther Ingram. Unring The Bell blazed with all the ferocity of a Wanee campsite fire but yielded to the night's set closer, Blind Man In The Dark. Although three months may have passed since the band shared a stage, and the saddle may have been a bit stiff from lack of use, it didn't take long for the Mule to work up a lather and go galloping off down the trail towards what looks to be an exceptional 2007; if tonight's show is any indication. What's the difference between FLAC and MP3? $14.95

Gov't Mule Wanee Festival Live Oak, FL 04.16.2010 A beautiful night in a beautiful place filled with beautiful people is everything you need to have a great Mule show. Once Warren was finished with the ABB set on the Peach stage he came directly to the Mushroom stage to make sure everyone went back to their home away from home for the night grinnin' ear to ear. The set started with a thunderous version of Pink Floyd's One Of These Days which went right into another Mule-O-Ween '08 treat, Fearless. Next up was a long Blind Man In The Dark intro complete with Warren singing Ain't No Sunshine over the steady build up to a rockin' Blind Man. The jam of the night, a long and winding Trane, covered a lot of territory and eventually found it's way to a moving Sad And Deep As You with Kofi Burbridge adding some chilling flute to the mix. Matt Grondin and his guitar then joined the late night fun on 32/20 Blues. The one - two punch of Broke Down On The Brazos & Mule brought the two hour set to a close. The guys sent everyone back to their tents to the tune of Soulshine. Click image for setlist info. What's the difference between FLAC and MP3? Click here to check it out. Gov't MuleWanee Festival04.13.07Live Oak, FL Tell me, who's that rocking? It's John The Revelator kicking of the second night's set. Months have passed, and my wintertime searches for apropos adjectives has come up short, so I find myself unable to properly convey what transpired on day two. Needless to say, the Mule is back and tunes like Time To Confess displayed just that, in dazzling brilliance. Streamline Woman and Bad Little Doggie hit hard and fast, but in contrast, the next offering of Lay Your Burden Down possessed a low down funk that surreptisiously slid into Smokestack Lightning and back to a short reprise of Lay Your Burden Down. The High & Mighty album gave up the next triumvirate of songs in the form of Brighter Days-> Like Flies and some mezmerizing work on the 12 string during So Weak, So Strong. Love Me Do has returned in the middle of it's good friend and partner, I'm A Ram, and was well received, but the jewel in the crown of tonight's set was about to arrive. Ron Holloway put his horn in all the right spots during Mule, which also featured Andy Hess' bass playing prowess in no small way; and the show closer Soulshine was just as radiant as one could hope. The sentiment "It's good to be back" was voiced by band, crew and fans alike and the last two nights at Wanee were a brilliant platform from which to begin the year. What's the difference between FLAC and MP3? Gov't Mule Royal Oak Theatre Royal Oak, MI 10.28.07 Things got off to a thumping start at the Royal Oak Theater with Slackjaw Jezebel and Larger Than Life. Mid-set saw Child Of The Earth and Patchwork Quilt but the return of Monkey Hill-> I Want You (She's So Heavy) was the first of two high points during the set. The other being Grace Potter sitting in for Take Me To The River, that followed a great I'm A Ram as well as ending the set. Reggae Soulshine kicked off the second set followed by a crowd responsive Lay Your Burden Down. After Mr. High & Mighty, it was Perfect Shelter that sent us into Drums with Matt and A Million Miles From Yesterday that brought us back out. Sco-Mule rambled up to It's A Man's World before handing off the reigns to Mr. Man to end the set. The encore was two songs and two great guitar players. Joined by Larry McCray, the band delivered a powerful Walkin' By The Levee and a ferocious Ramblin' Gamblin' Man to end the night. What's the difference between FLAC and MP3? $14.95

Gov't MuleRoyal Oak Music TheaterRoyal Oak, MI12.03.06 The crew awoke to snow in the air and on the ground during load-in creating a cold yet beautiful landscape. Hammer And Nails was all that was needed to spark the fire that would be tonight's show. Thorazine Shuffle was next on the playlist followed by an exceptional rendition of Banks Of The Deep End. Eternity's Breath found itself sandwiched in between Trane which made for a jam-laden mid set high. Not played in many years, Alice Cooper's Is It My Body made an unforgettable appearance while Slow Happy Boys and 32/20 Blues rounded out the set. Streamline Woman continued its trend of being a heavy-duty rocker and the Mule made no signs of letting up as About To Rage came to bear. Post-Drums, Mr. High & Mighty was followed by Unring The Bell, showing that although new to the playing field, the songs from High & Mighty have made themselves part of the fold. Tonight's encore came in three parts! The first being Champagne & Reefer, made extra tasty by the addition of Jim McCarty on guitar. Jim remained for I Ain't Superstitious, but was joined by Don Backus on keys and both stayed on for the last song of the night, Oh Well. What's the difference between FLAC and MP3? Gov't Mule Royal Oak Music Theatre Royal Oak, MI 11.11.08 As if to battle the chilly winds that did blow outside, the band turned up the heat and delivered two powerful sets. Bad Little Doggie was chased by Streamline Woman as the opening pair of tunes. Don't Step On the Grass Sam was superb in the third slot while He Ain't Give You None earned the cleanup position. Kind Of Bird, now more familiar in the rotation, was once again well received and brilliantly played. Left Coast Groovies found it's way into World Of Difference, but the set closing Almost Cut My Hair with Davy Knowles definitely kept the crowd wanting more. Thirty Days In The Hole announced the start of set two with thunderous aplomb. Fallen Down wound down into The Other One Jam and then into another musical melding. This time, of She Said, She Said-> Tomorrow Never Knows.
